Before You Buy — Buyer's Safety Checklist

  • Always inspect before paying. Never send money for an item you haven't seen in person. Scammers often create urgency — "buy now or lose it." Take your time and verify first.
  • Use WhatsApp to verify the seller. Ask for a short video of the item, check the seller's profile photo and name for consistency. A genuine seller has nothing to hide.
  • Research the fair market price. If a deal seems too good to be true — a brand-new iPhone for PKR 5,000 — it almost certainly is. Compare prices with similar listings before committing.
  • Meet in a safe, public location. Choose busy places like a shopping mall, café, or police station parking lot for exchanges. Never go alone to an unknown private address for high-value items.
  • Test electronics and vehicles before buying. Turn on phones, check IMEI numbers, test car engines, and verify serial numbers. Never skip this step, no matter how trustworthy the seller seems.
  • Verify property and land documents. For real estate listings, always involve a licensed property lawyer or official registry office before making any payment.
  • Use cash for in-person deals. Cash is king for local transactions. Avoid bank transfers, Easypaisa, JazzCash, or any prepayment to someone you haven't met in person.

Before You Sell — Seller's Safety Checklist

  • Never ship before receiving full payment. If a buyer insists on receiving the item before paying, decline immediately. Legitimate buyers understand payment-first policies for shipping deals.
  • Be cautious of overpayment scams. A "buyer" sends you a cheque or transfer for more than the asking price and asks you to return the difference. The original payment is fake — you lose the item and the refund money.
  • Do not share personal banking details. A genuine buyer only needs your product — not your bank account number, CNIC number, or OTP codes. Never share these under any circumstances.
  • Confirm cash payment before handing over items. Count the cash carefully in front of the buyer. Check for counterfeit notes. For high-value items (cars, property), use a bank draft or verified transfer.
  • Keep a record of all conversations. Screenshot your WhatsApp chats with potential buyers. This can be useful if any dispute arises later.
  • Meet buyers in safe locations. For high-value items, bring a friend or family member. Let someone at home know where you are going and with whom.

Common Scam Red Flags — Spot Them Instantly

If you notice any of these warning signs, stop the transaction immediately and report the user to us.

🚩 Price Too Low Luxury item listed at a fraction of market price to lure buyers quickly.
🚩 Advance Payment Demand Seller asks for "booking fee" or "delivery advance" before showing the item.
🚩 Urgency Tactics "I'm leaving the country tomorrow" or "10 other buyers are interested" — pressure to decide fast.
🚩 Refuses to Meet In Person Genuine local sellers are happy to meet. Constant excuses = major red flag.
🚩 Stolen or No Documents For vehicles and property — no original documents, registration, or transfer papers.
🚩 Asks for OTP or PIN Nobody legitimate ever needs your bank OTP, mobile wallet PIN, or CNIC details.
🚩 Fake Screenshots Buyer sends a "payment confirmation" screenshot but money never arrives in your account.
🚩 International Buyer for Local Item Claiming to buy from abroad with "shipping agent" involved — classic shipping scam.
🚩 Suspicious Profile New account, no profile photo, copied listing photos from Google — inconsistencies everywhere.

Quick Do's & Don'ts for Safe Transactions

✅ Always DO This

  • Meet in busy public places
  • Inspect item before paying
  • Bring a friend for large deals
  • Verify seller identity on WhatsApp
  • Trust your instincts
  • Save all chat screenshots
  • Check IMEI for phones
  • Verify vehicle registration
  • Report suspicious users to us

❌ Never DO This

  • Send advance payment to strangers
  • Share your bank OTP or PIN
  • Accept overpayment cheques
  • Ship items before payment clears
  • Meet alone at unknown locations
  • Ignore suspicious urgency
  • Trust unverified "agent" deals
  • Give CNIC copy to strangers
  • Click unknown links in chats
📱

WhatsApp & Online Communication Safety

  • Never click unknown links. Scammers send fake payment links or phishing sites through WhatsApp. Only use official bank apps or verified websites.
  • Video call the seller before buying. A 60-second WhatsApp video call where the seller shows you the actual item in real time is one of the best verification methods available.
  • Block and report suspicious contacts. If someone makes you uncomfortable or demands unusual information, block them on WhatsApp and report the ad to our team immediately.
  • Protect your personal phone number. Your WhatsApp number on ads is public. Consider using a secondary SIM for marketplace communications if you prefer extra privacy.

How to Report a Scam or Suspicious Listing

  • 1 Email our support team immediately at sellitfast01@gmail.com with the listing link, seller's WhatsApp number, and a description of the incident.
  • 2 Save all evidence — screenshots of chats, payment receipts, ad screenshots, and the seller's contact details before reporting.
  • 3 Report to local authorities if you have suffered financial loss. In Pakistan, file a complaint with the FIA Cybercrime Wing at fia.gov.pk. In Egypt, report to NTRA (National Telecom Regulatory Authority).
  • 4 Warn the community. Share your experience in your local community groups so others can avoid the same scammer. Collective awareness is our strongest defense.
